Week of 11/9-13

Monday we will return graded assessments including test corrections from Unit 4 & this past Friday’s Quiz.  Monday through Wednesday, we will conclude activities enriching our Lesson #14 over the Antebellum Era.  Wednesday, we will take a short Quiz over this material & preview the Civil War (Lesson #15).  We will continue the Civil War Lesson through Friday & have a short Vocabulary Quiz over this material.  Next week, we will be conducting a cross-curricular activity for this Civil War lesson w/ the Language Arts dpt.  If students have electronic devices w/ internet access, they are encouraged to bring them for use in class.  Students should be working on a PBL “Journal” activity which covers the last 4 lessons of 1st Semester.  Students are to choose a character from the Westward Expansion lesson #13.  They are to write four 1/2 page paragraphs detailing a day in the life of this character, who should be identified by profession/name & date of each entry.  This should also be done for the current Antebellum Era, the next Civil War lesson, & finally, the Reconstruction Era.  This is the minimum & will earn a 70 as a test grade.  A 5th entry for each will raise the grade to an 80, a 6th one to a 90 & id an art piece is added to each … a 100.  This counts as a TEST grade & is not due until 12/11/15.  If students do a single paragraph each night & the visual on the weekend, they will have this 4 part PBL completed BEFORE the deadline & a single paragraph nightly is NOT overly time consuming.
